COSC 829: Advanced Virtual Reality Systems

Final Projects, Semester: Fall 2021

Project 1: Multi-User Social Club

Student: Syed Ali (Project Report), Project Presentation

The goal for this project is to create a multiplayer game called VR Social Club. The game is like Rec Room where players will be able to join in and be able to hangout with their friends. In the game players will be able to choose between two scenarios, one of them will be in a university gym setting where players will be able to join in and participate in activities such as playing basketball or watching TV, just chatting. The second scenario will be at a camp setting where players will be able to hang out at the camp, go for a swim, hike, etc. Most of this game module is built in Unity and 3ds Max. The main target audience are employees from various companies who are craving for social events like office parties which have been difficult to hold due to the current pandemic. Currently there are not many videogames in the market which have a socialized theme implemented to them. Companies like Xbox game studios, Amazon Lua, and Steam are actively seeking independent developers to make video games like these for their platforms.

Project 2: Multi-user Evacuation in a Mall (Project Report) Presentation
Student: Aishwarya Reehl

The goal for this project is to create a Multi-User evacuation system in a mall. This game can be played individual or in a team. This would mean that either the user can create a game room and play there or join an existing room to play. In this environment the user can walk through the mall to see the layout. The user by default enters the fire and smoke environment where there is a lot of bombs, fire, smoke, and scared users. The game is designed using Unity3D gaming engine and scripted in C#. The objective is to design and evacuation system where they can trigger evacuation and the people in the mall can hide to a safe spot. In this project we are intending to design a multi-user evacuation which is very much real to the open shopping malls. This reason behind doing this project is with the increased number of attacks its really useful to have a virtual environment which helps in better planning evacuation. This application is useful for anyone trying to understand and create evacuation system. The targeted audience is anyone who wants to design, learn or educate about the evacuation procedures/methods.

Project 3: Multi-User Ballistic Classroom

Student: Andrew Benya (Project Report) Presentation

This project is to create a multi-user virtual reality environment for a Classroom simulation for students to learn a particular physics lessons. Physics lessons are relevant to the real world. Making a spectacle keeps young students engaged. Students can learn about projectile motion and how to predict and calculate the trajectory of a projectile in motion. The users enter the simulation with a username of their choice which is displayed above the avatar. The classroom contains 8 parts that contribute to the overall lesson. When students approach the desk, the avatar acknowledges the student and explains the sub-lesson
