Project 1: VR Assembly of an Aircraft in a Collaborative Environment

Students:Manik, Sri Teja, Ola (Project Report), Project Presentation

The aim of this project is to assemble aircraft using vizible (a Collaborative Virtual Reality Environment). Up to now we have been using two different software's, for assembling 3D models (3ds max, and sketch up) , now we are using a separate software and for presentation and collaboration. This was done using vizible. This project lets the user to present their 3D model in a presentation slides and also lets the user to modify the 3D model while presenting. Vizible is VR creation and a collaboration software. There are two parts to Vizible, one to create VR content and another to experience it. With Vizible Presentation Designer, you create rich, interactive VR presentations. Then, with Vizible Presenter, you hold sessions, multi-user gatherings inside of your presentations for real time communication and collaboration in virtual reality. Vizible Presentation Designer is what we use for VR creation. Presentation Designer has a user interface that might remind us of PowerPoint or Google Slides. Each "slide" in Presentation Designer is a 3D scene that you can populate with 3D models, spherical videos, 2D videos, images, sounds, documents, and more.

Project 2: FEMA (Federal Emergency Management Agency): Emergency Alert and assessment for training purposes using Vizard (Project Report) Presentation
Students: Nada Chaoui, Rosario Reynaldo

FEMA (Federal Emergency Management Agency) is an agency that supports the citizens and first responders. It coordinates the federal government's role in preparing for, preventing, mitigating the effects of, responding to, and recovering from all domestic disasters, whether natural or man-made, including acts of terror. In the century that followed, ad hoc legislation was passed more than 100 times in response to hurricanes, earthquakes, floods and other natural disasters.

The main goal of this project is to provide a virual environment that corresponds to FEMA's requirements and needs to train their employees virtually. As their facilities are nation wide, the use of a virtual reality environment will help them train their employees before they go on site, which will save them time and money. The employes training project is based on the logisitics that FEMA goes through at a emergency alert of a disaster. The project was designed by 3Ds Max and sketch up for modeling the environment. Wwhile the code was written in python programming language by using Vizard platform. At the simulation of an emergency alert, the screen color changes to sepia and fire appears at one of the buildings in the environment and an emergency alert sound starts. Then, the receiving truck arrives, parking inversely, simulating a sound when backing up. The user will have to load the truck with the pallets/skids in the warehouse and ship it to the emergency area. The assessment training consists of testing the user if he knows what each truck is supposed to do. At the trailers staging area, the user will be able to navigate around the warehouse after answering the questions correctly. While, at the receiving gate, the user will have a form to fill out which will automatically appear at the mobile office.

Project 3: VRRRRRRGHH Pirates using Unity 3D

Students: Obinna Onyima, Shamario Scott, Kristian Chery (Project Report) Presentation

The project goal was to have the user start on board of a large ship vessel designed from the early ships from the early 1500’s inspired from Spanish and British ships. This project's most important aspect is the ship. Built for the tough seas and its tough sailors, this marvel of the sea ready to sail. The ship itself would be the first adventure for the user where the sheer size of the ship would allow for the first exploration of this project. The user would start at the upper deck of the ship where they are allowed to survey their surroundings and walk around the ship. They are encouraged to walk along the upper deck and see everything the upper deck has to look like. The upper deck houses the captains war room as well as the secondary armory. The helm of the ship is directly above the war room and that will come in later in this simulation. Then the user has to walk down to the second level of the ship where they will be prompted to begin to meet the crew, rooms and special objects. The second deck of the ship holds most of the cannons. Also on the front side of the ship are the showers and lavatory quarters for the sailors of the ship. The captains main room is at the front of the ship on the second floor. That would be the first proximity sensor that would be triggered for the completion of the exploration of the ship.  On the back side of the ship on the second floor are the sailor’s quarters. There is where the next three proximity sensors will be in the because the user will be meeting three of his sailors on the ship. The third level of the ship houses more the ships cannons. It also holds the dining room for the crew of the ship. The fourth level of the ship hold even more cannons and is the ammunition storage of the ship. Her the user will meet another member of the crew that will prompt them a blurb of information about the cannons on the ship. The fifth level of the ship is the food storage space. Live cattle like cows and chicken live on this level as well as the edible carcasses that are needed to feed the crew over their voyage. The fifth floor also holds the treasure of the ship and another proximity sensor to be triggered.
